Appreciating Our Horses – Debra Olson Daniels

Through the methodology of operant conditioning we can inch our way towards anything we want. The click and treat (I use a few timothy grass hay pellets) are like an explanation point underlining the shift in criteria taking it to a new level. The precision timing of the click is reinforcing to both the horse and human. Over time a subtle conversation is created that goes back and forth, and the dance evolves between the horse and his partner.
If you are interested in learning more about the power of connection and balance through Equine Clicker Training, my next seminar is July 10th and 11th in SW Washington State. Go to equineclickermagic.com for registration forms, etc…
Hi Debra,
I want to thank you and Magic for the wonderful experience this past weekend. It was wonderful to come home feeling that I learned a bunch of cool stuff and with confidence! Wow pretty darn amazing. You two peas in a pod are such inspiration, fun and beautiful to watch. It was so cool to work with Magic….you are both wonderful teachers that have opened up a world of possibilities…YES!
I did notice both when working with Magic and Fiera that the footfall sounded different during flexion so I am going to try to keep both my ears and eyes open. Anyway it made me feel good because I think there might be something to what you said about the horses liking to carry themselves in balance…have always thought that all came only through discipline and struggle…..I guess that good things can come from a playful mind/relationship. Kind of Mind Blowing.
Anyway I want you to know how satisfied and inspired I am. Big heart felt thanks and hugs.
Kristin & Fiera
Kristen and Magic working in Tai Chi Balance. Magic is teaching her about lateral flexions.
My seminars are always open to newcomers. We explore the science and the art of operant conditioning focusing on where each horse is at in their learning process. If the foundation lessons are strong we can move into exploring lateral flexions. We learn about clicker compatible communication skills and Tai Chi grounding. All of the attention to detail and positive reinforcement contributes to enhancing the relationship between the horse and their human partner.
Please feel free to contact me directly at debraolsondaniels@wildblue.net or 360-274-6310. In addition to the seminars I am available for phone consultations
and private lessons.
Thank you! The Horses Thank You!
