Follow our journey through Washington State, British Columbia and California as we catch up with Kim McElroy, Liz Mitten Ryan, Stormy May and Carolyn Resnick as well as a host of other wonderful people including Davina Andree, Connie Funk and Sandra Wallin.
Days 15 & 16
After saying a sad farewell to Carolyn and everyone the day before it was off to LA for the last full day on our trip. The date? The 4th of July!! We were actually in California on the 4th July 2 years ago but had flown that day, so we didn’t make the same mistake again.
Thanks to our actress friend, Louise, we were able to celebrate (or was that commiserate?!) with a load of other English and Americans on the top of an apartment block in North Hollywood with marvelous views over LA.
The following day it was a farewell brunch in Santa Monica before heading back to Germany. Sad but nice to be going home too.
Thanks for tuning in!
Days 12 – 14
Just hanging out with Carolyn and the gang including her Mother Paulina, apprentice from England, Julia and assistant come camera-person, Talley. I tried to spend as much time as I could doing the first Waterhole Ritual, which meant very strenuously reading a book whilst sat in a chair. I could get used to this horse training.
The white horse that like leaves and nuts
is Marchador, who features on Carolyn’s “Introduction to the Waterhole Rituals” DVD cover. The grey horse with the blue cloak is the always charismatic Panadero.
What do you think of the boots?!!

Days 10 & 11
Lots more time with Carolyn Resnick as we watched her train Lucero again. He was a very aggresive young colt when he was bought by his owner, Amanda, whom you see interviewed. That was about 6 weeks ago and now he is a like a well-mannered and very happy puppy. Amazing.
In the evening we went to an event that featured Madelaine Pickens, who is campaigning to save the 30,000+ mustangs kept in BLM holding pens. A worthy cause to be sure but the impression I got was more of political manoeuvrings on behalf of her husband. I hope not.
The following day we went down to San Diego to discuss Carolyn’s current and future DVD projects with Talley, the lady who does most of Carolyn’s video work.

Days 8 & 9
At last we got to meet up with Carolyn Resnick and her wonderful Mother, Paulina. It’s been nearly 2 years since I’d been with them so there was lots to catch up on. We have a whole week ahead of us here in Escondido but am sure the time will rush by.
In the video, you will see Carolyn working with one of her certified trainers and students, Alessandra along with her mare Rosalie. Then, there is the handsome young colt, Lucero, whom Carolyn is working with for her Waterhole Rituals Insider Circle class.

Day 7
Today we said goodbye to our lovely, new friends: Stormy, Kim, Connie, Davina, Sandra and Connie’s wonderful herd of 3 horses before starting the trip back to LA and then on to Escondido.
The journey passed uneventfully, especially compared to Day #1, even the Friday evening traffic out of LA was kind to us. We arrived at the hotel just about dusk and eat at the diner next door, where we were faced with the biggest salad we had ever encountered! Tomorrow, order 1 and share it between us.

Day 6
Today we visited Connie’s lovely ranch in beautiful countryside just outside La Conner. We spent most of the day chatting and laughing with the troup and were also joined by the lovely Sandra Wallin and Diane Williams. Diane is another super talented artist and photographer, whose work can also be seen on http://www.earthwindandhorses.com.
In the evening, there was a special screening of Stormy’s masterpiece “The Path of the Horse” at the historic Lincoln Theatre in Mount Vernon. The main feature was preceeded by shorts from Sandra, Connie and Kim and was watched by a huge audience of over 300. Many had never seen the movie before and the response was incredible.
Afterwards, there was an interactive discussion with the troupe and MC’d by me in the audience taking questions. An extraordinary evening.

Day 5
Today you can witness my rather poor imitation of riding and Elke’s slightly more elegant version. In case you had any doubt, I am clearly no horseman – yet. Elke said that the experience of riding bareback was totally different to riding with a saddle. She said she felt much more connected with the horse and was grateful that the horse was so gentle and trusting with her.
Then we made the long trip back to WA to a beautiful little town called La Conner, where we met up with the travelling troupe of Stormy May, Kim McElroy, Connie Funk, Davina Andree and Kathy Jaeger. Davina kept us amused as usual!

Day 4
Today we were able to relax a little and explore Liz’s ranch. The scenery and landscape is quite breathtaking and has an almost mystical quality to it. It is the setting for Liz’s upcoming Understanding the Infinite workshops and having experienced the stillness of the land, I am beginning to understand what Liz says about it’s potential to change lives.
A fun, refreshing day in beautiful sunshine – bliss!

Day 3
Today we finished shooting the video footage for Kim’s new horse art DVD we are making together. Kim is so down-to-earth and a joy to work with. She has a new book out of her e-inspiration art, which she says will be available on her site shortly.
Davina and I are also working on a new site to promote Kim along with some other wonderful horse artists. It’s not quite ready yet but you can see some of their amazing work here: http://www.earthwindandhorses.com.
Then we drove up to Liz Mitten Ryan‘s Gateway 2 ranch in BC, Canada. A long drive through some bad weather but worth it for the spectacular beauty of our destination.

Day 2
In today’s video, we spend the day with Kim McElroy at her idyllic SkyeLandeSea farm on the Kitsap peninsula across the water from Seattle. Watch as we film a new learning to draw horses art course we are making together.
It was amazing to watch Kim in action. She just seems to let the inspiration and grace of the horses in every moment move her charcoal across the paper. A joy to behold such beauty and creativity and she tells me it’s easy to learn.

Day 1
Today marked the start of our journey as we ‘hit the trail’ starting in Germany at some unearthly hour in the middle of the night! After that, we threw away our watches so as not to remind ourselves how long we’d been up.
6,700 miles (10,700 km), 1 missed connection, a 5 hour delay and &%* hours later, we ended up in Seattle. It was our version of “Planes, trains and automobiles” we called “Car, plane, plane, plane, car”. Yeah, I agree, not as catchy as the original.
Remember to tune in tomorrow to find out how we get on!
